Albert and Arent Andriessen (later "Bratt") went from their birthplace in Norway to the Netherlands as young men. Albert, at least, was a "seaman." But he also knew something about carpentry, milling and tobacco growing. In Amsterdam he met his bride to be, who was German born. They were married in the Old Church in Amsterdam.

Before Albert came to New Netherland he married Annatie Barents in the Oude Kerk (another Old Church), in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Number of memberships are around 2300 (winter 1996) and increases daily. The primary goal of this association is to make a common forum for anyone interested in using computers as a tool in genealogical research in Norway. DIS-Norge want[s] to spread knowledge about this and also stimulate in general the genealogical research. We have good connection to other equivalent associations in the Nordic countries and are continually exchanging experiences. We are trying to make it easy for all genealogists in Norway to get in touch with each others, both direct and electronically, and we tries actively to found new local organisations where there are local interests for such."
