The usual format of the entries is name, address, message, and email address.  A couple of the signers also left a link to their own websites.

My family dates back to the early 1700's West Manor of Rensselaerwyck (Bethlehem). They were neighbors with Andres Bratt, Slingerlands, Moaks, Van Duesens, Van Allens, Winnes, etc. Andres Bratt and my ggggggggf Philipp Luke (Laux, Loeck, Lauck, etc.) were sponsors for each others children. Brad Brott

Coming to Europe for an internship I found myself confused about my origins.I was told Brott could be Dutch or German, but the red hair signified maybe Irish or even viking heritage. After spending some free time on the internet, I have found out some interesting information on my background.Am I primarily Norwegian or Dutch?Or a combination of both?I'm eager to find out more. Who can help me?

I have long been aware that Norwegians were in America long before the Restaurationen voyage in 1825. This was the first account that I have read and find it most interesting. I had always believed that the Norsk were brought over by the Dutch for their craftsman expertise, but your forbear was, in fact, a farmer.

Juergen "Paul" Bradt

Hildesheim / Germany (30 km south of Hanover)

In Hildesheim we (my mother, my brother, and I) are the only ones having this family name. But about 50 kilometers to the west you find an area of some smaller towns - where my father cames from - and where there are quite a lot of families with this name. As far as I know, they have been living there since the time of the "Hanse", when a Norwegian Salesman came here to do some business and settle down.

I was looking at different web sites for my great grandfather Edgar Vanderzee who married Sarah J. Sharpe in Wynantskill, New York. They were members of the Dutch Reformed Church in Wynantskill and I happened upon this website. I do no know who Edgar's father and mother were or anything about him except he was commissioned a captain in the civil war and then went back to Wynantskill, N.Y. when he was mustered out. If anyone knows of his parents, please E-mail me.

I have been aboe to trace my Brotts line back to the 1850s in MI. I am wondering if I am part of this Bradt clan. My ggrandfather Ernest Albert Brotts told the story that the name had been changed from Le Brottoire, but he was never known for his veracity. Since he was a meat cutter in his youth, I suspect that he was elaborating on the French name for a butcher shop -- abbatoire. At any rate the line goes like this --

Helen May Brotts B abt 1906 in Kansas City, Died 1976 in Hawthorne, CA.

Daughter of:

Ernest Albert Brotts, b. about 1870 Ohio, d. 1940, Carthage, MO

and

Ella May Wolverton Brotts, b. ? d. 1941 Omaha, NE

Ernest Brotts was the son of:

Henry Brotts, b. MI abt. 1835, d. abt 1890 Kansas Cit, KS. He was a Civil War veteran with an amputated leg.

and

Helen May Brotts b. ?? d. ??

That is as much as I have been able to dig up so far.

I would appreciate any help you might be able to give.

Thanks
